Today's artist is Namie Amuro (安室奈美恵), a famous singer in Japan. She was born in Okinawa. When she was 11 years old, she was spotted and recruited as a singer, but she refused. Afterward, she participated in a children's karaoke competition which was held on a local TV program in Okinawa, and she won. She is good at dance in addition to singing. She wanted to be an actress at first, but she was impressed by Janet Jackson's performance and she became a singer.

Vol. 5 EXILE
This week, I'll introduce a Japanese group, EXILE. I love them enough to enter their fan club.
EXILE is a group that has vocalists and performers. There were 7 people ( 2 vocalists and 5 performers) in this group at first. But one of the vocalists left the group, so they held an audition to find a new vocalist. Since the new vocalist was decided in an audition, they've become one of the most famous groups in Japan. Now, there are 19 people (2 vocalists and 17 performers) in EXILE. And they have gotten awards many times. For example, they got the Japan Record Award (日本レコード大賞）, MTV Video Music Award Japan, a Japan Gold Disk Award (日本ゴールドディスク大賞） and more.
When I heard their song in a Japanese drama for the first time, I became a fan of theirs. I didn't know them at the time, so I searched for the singer is name in the ending credits. I noticed that I had learned dance with an EXILE song. Since then, I've loved listening to their songs and learning their dances. Many of their songs are used in dramas, movies and TV commercials, so perhaps you have heard some of their songs.

Today's band sings a Beyonce song medley using only their voices! They don't use musical instruments! It's called a cappella. And they arrange and cover some famous songs by themselves.

People who watched their performance noticed that it's amazing. They won an a cappella audition in 2011, and they became a popular a cappella group in America.
